Tulum Sunset

March 15, 2012 - 2:26 am

For the past several years my family and I have traveled to the same town in Mexico for the February vacation.  The town is Tulum and the draw is sun, the beach, the lifestyle and the Bio-sphere.  The Sian Kaan Bio-Sphere is a preserve or National park that runs South from Tulum virtually to Mexico’s border with Belize.  The put it spatial terms, its an area the size of Rhode Island.

Not surprisingly there is both exotic Mayan history and abundant wildlife.  In the past the photographic highlight for me has always been our evening boat trip to the Bird Island within the boundaries of the Bio-Sphere.  (see the post from Feb. 2011).  This year was different because we were able to rent one of the few homes that was within the borders of the Bio-sphere.  The lagoon was available virtually any time.

This year, I was equipped with a water proof Sony Camera, the TSX – 10.On the first evening there, before I figured out that the Bird Island was 5 miles (8 Kilometers) away, my friend Shawn and I set out to paddle to the Island.  Suffice to say we failed miserably.  But the paddle back proved to me that the birds, while lovely, were just a sideshow.

A Cozy Corner Store

February 3, 2012 - 8:58 pm

Imagine your little old grandmother with her group of old girlfriends going through this store, gabbing and picking out their yarn for their next knitting project. This adorable craft store can be found in the assisted living home Barry shoots for. They are one of his favorite clients, always sweet and delighted to have photographs taken.

This man can sell your home! Barry photographed this headshot for a local realtor. It was done in a lovely home in Westport  with two lights and a gift for composing people. Doesn’t he look handsome?

Welcome one and all to a grand photograph from Barry Hyman! Barry shot this house recently for Linda Skolnick a realtor with Prudential in Connecticut. It takes a team to take a plot of land and create a home that not only is livable but is a reflection of the taste of the owner. This entry way is only the begining to an exceptionally lovely home, kudous to Harrison Gill the architect. Of course we cannot forget one of our favorite builkders that brought this vision into reality, the talented J Tallman.

Keep checking the blog for more photography from Barry Hyman!

Traveler of The East

November 13, 2011 - 7:01 pm

While strolling on one of Fairfield, Connecticut’s lovely local beaches Barry watched two people riding horseback while the sunset. While playing on the edge of the surf, one horse stopped. It was one of those moments that is meant to be photographed, to share the moment of zen with the world.

Modern Marvel

October 21, 2011 - 1:53 pm

On a clear, beautiful day Barry went up the road to shoot for one of his many clients. It was that magic hour all photographers wait all day for. From across the river he spotted this sleek, modern office building perched above the Norwalk river. These offices at 148 East Norwalk were perfectly lit, contrasting with the blue sky and deep blue waters.

A Litte Linosa

April 3, 2011 - 10:08 pm

Linosa is an island in the Sicily Channel and its total population is less than 500 people, but this little island has made some news lately. Over the past few weeks as the situation in Libya has continued to escalate, migrants looking to escape the troubled country have gone to Linosa.

Before the situation in Libya made headlines, Barry and his family vacationed in the Mediterranean. One of the stops on his trip was Linosa. Barry took these photos while on vacation, which show a tranquility that has surely changed in the past few months.

From Westport to Tulum

March 2, 2011 - 9:41 pm

Most photographers are not simply photographers by day. It’s not JUST an office job. So even on vacation the need to capture a moment or a look is almost instinct. Westport schools went on vacation last week, which was the ideal time for Barry and his family to vacation in Tulum, Mexico. Despite vacation time, Barry’s camera followed him and he captured these pictures from his time in Mexico.
