Re: VSCCA Log Books
The purpose of the VSCCA Log Book is to improve safety, insure originality and compliance with the rules of VSCCA car eligibility and to facilitate scrutineering at our events.
For our new members and old members who need either new log books for the first time or log books for a car new to the club here is a summary of the Log Book program:
VSCCA Log Book Coordinator is Ralph Steinberg - 8 North Constance Drive, Glen Riddle, Pa. 19014 - 610-364-3800 (day) 610-459-2120 (nights & weekends) Ralph@cloverleaf-auto.com (24/7.)
Ralph Records each log book, seals it with the VSCCA seal and returns it back to the club member.
Please note:
1:) Log Books must be obtained by mail only from Ralph. Though he tries to get them returned as quickly as possible please allow 1 month for turn around.
Log Books are NOT issued at an event, nor is it a good idea to give your information to Ralph at an event.
It is liable to live in the trailer till the next event.
2:) Applications for a new Log Book must have a completed Log Book Application Form.
All of the form must be completed and pictures included or you will not be issued a Log Book
3:) Log Books MUST accompany a car through any originality inspections and at all technical and scrutineering inspections at ALL VSCCA EVENTS.
4:) Any deficiencies, problems, deviations from originality requirements, etc. which are noted in your Log Book must be repaired by the next event.
Failure to correct the problem(s) by the next event and have this noted in your Log Book may prevent you from racing at that event.
By this time it should be quite clear and there is no reason that a car that does not meet all VSCCA originality rules and Safety Specifications may be refused entry into that event. ANY CAR THAT DOES NOT PASS its SCRUTINEERING & SAFETY INSPECTION WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED AND NOTED IN THE LOG BOOK.
5:) Any questions of VSCCA car eligibility should be settled before an event or obtaining a log book.
Contact: Jerry Greaves, Chairman, Car Classification Committee, 8 Joan Drive, Newtown, Ct. 06470.203-426-6211 E-mail jerry.greaves@att.net
Any car safety or technical question should be directed to: Tivvy Shenton, Head VSCCA Scrutineer, 32 Beaver Pond Hill Road, Richmond, Vt. 05477 Tivvy Shenton, vintiv@aol.com
7:) The primary purpose of the club is still "to encourage the acquisition, preservation, restoration and operation of vintage sports cars".
Done in the proper spirit, this purpose leads to the genuine enjoyment of our cars as they were and continue to be.
Most frequently asked questions about Log Books
1: Why do I need a Log Book?
Simple answer, the VSCCA says you have to have one. Actually I do not know of any race group that does not require one.
Slightly more complex answer, for you safety and the continuing history of your car.

You must first obtain a Log Book Request Form and fill it all out.
It must be signed by both a tech inspector and a car classification committee member.
Include two pictures of your car and mail it back to me.
