Late breaking news on this year's Grand Prix

First, there is a new company doing the year books and if you want to have your name in the program you need to have your paid entry to me no later than May 12, 2003!

The Wyndham Gardens Hotel, 3454 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15213, 412-683-2040 is race headquarters and where we will be having the drivers reception at 7:30pm Friday night. Remember to tell them you are with the grand prix when you call for your reservations.

The paddock area in Schenley Park will be open from 9:00am Friday morning. Remember only the paddock section will be not part of normal Pittsburgh traffic on Friday. The rest of the course is public roads!

Registration will open at 1:00pm till 9:00pm on Friday and re-open at 6:30am Saturday
Technical inspection will start approximately 11:00am

MANDITORY DRIVER'S MEETING 5:30PM BEHIND THE CLOVERLEAF TRAILER, NOT ON THE STREET

The course will be open for WALK arounds from 8:00pm Friday till 7:00am Saturday. There will be NO drive arounds of any sort this year.

Trailers must be on the grass or parked directly across from the paddock entrance. ONE vehicle per team will have paddock in and out sticker. All other vehicles must be either parked up on the grass with your trailer or parked across from paddock in. There will be other new/or more correctly just enforced paddock rules in your drivers packet. Our insurance company will have a team at the race this year and we need to cross all of our T's and dot the i. I believe running up and down the paddock in your nomex underwear is not an insurance infraction and the crowd seems to find it amusing.

For a more in depth look at this year's schedule etc you can go to www.cloverleaf-auto.com and click the VSCCA/PVGP button or just wait till you get your driver's packet at PVGP

The VSCCA & the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association

would like to invite you to the 21st running of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. Yes it is that time of year again as the snow piles up outside to begin to fill in the vintage calendar for 2003. I, on behalf of VSCCA & PVGPA hope you put a big star on your calendar for July 18-20, 2003.  These are the dates of what could be arguably one of the most exciting events on the vintage calendar and when you add in that the whole thing is done to benefit two charities such as the Autism Society of Pittsburgh & Allegheny Valley School how can you go wrong?

This is one of those events that are a must whether you plan on driving or not. The paddock sits back in the trees on a normally quite little cul-de-sac in the beautiful Schenley Park. The crowds have free access to the paddock and they are just the nicest people you could imagine. They take the time to learn about you and your cars and even have lent a hand to make sure some of us could get our cars back onto the track. The PVGPA arranges free shuttle buses to take you to all the best viewing points around this temporary road course. There are huge car shows all day Saturday for those of you who care to wander over and they just happen to be located at the premier viewing spots of the course. There are interesting displays scattered all across the park and there is the City of Pittsburgh itself. Schenley Park is located right in the heart of town. With all that a big city has to offer, restaurants, museums, shops, and as this is Pittsburgh, the Rivers.

So whether you just want to bring a car out to the show, or just spectate or for the ultimate experience in vintage driving to Race a true street course with the teeming throng just the other side of temporary wooden fences. Old cars on skinny tires howling around the cities street bringing back memories of Watkins Glen, LeMans, the Mille…

Now on to the more mundane; unfortunately as much as I love them this is not a track for class III VSCCA cars. All other VSCCA & VARAC cars are eligible. All car and driver eligibility questions should be directed to me, Ralph Steinberg. I would prefer that you email me your questions at Ralph@cloverleaf-auto .com or if you can not do that I can be reached at 610-459-2120 in the evening. Leave a message on the machine.

As I receive completed entry forms and get the cars into their correct race groups I will post it on the PVGP pages on my web site www.cloverleaf-auto.com this will be the only notification of your acceptance to the event. These pages will be available around April 16th. If you want your name and car listed in the PVGP program I must have all of your information on my desk no later than May 25, 2002.
