VSCCA Turkey Bowl 2003
Summit Point, WV

You are invited to attend the 7th annual revival of the famous "Turkey Bowl" races which were originally
held in the region in the 1950's and '60's. This is one of the lowest-key track events on our calendar,
with plenty of track time and "the right crowd with no crowding".
Traditionally, this event has been a three-day affair on Thanksgiving weekend.
This year, we are tentatively hoping to move to an earlier weekend in November (watch this space for a firm date).
Our intent is to utilize the familiar
main course at Summit Point for Saturday & Sunday at least, and perhaps the new "Shenandoah Circuit" for
Friday.
The main circuit at Summit is a challenging 2-mile track, with a great
mix of turns, a nice long straight, and some interesting elevation changes. It's entertaining for everything
from Pre-war machinery to VSCCA Class III flyers, and has a different feel than Lime Rock or other familiar courses.
Select non-VSCCA cars may be accommodated at this event.
If you have an early 1960's small- to medium-size production car, sports racer,
or formula car, contact the Event Chairman to discuss it's appropriateness. Other 1950's-era cars not on
the eligibility list, might be acceptable too. Please call!
We share the weekend with the Mid-Atlantic Legends Club, alternating track time with
their groups.
We normally have two vintage groups, split roughly by estimated lap times.
There is always a gap in time between our groups so you can easily share a car among two drivers at this event.
We'll have plenty of practice sessions, sprint races, and a vintage enduro. We usually finish off with an
"all-comer's" race on Sunday afternoon, a great way to wrap up a great season of VSCCA events!
Our weekend features one of the nicest club dinners of the year, at an historic old inn nearby.
Rooms are available at the inn at discounted VSCCA rates (more details to follow).
Alternatively, there are plenty of reasonably-priced hotels in nearby Winchester, Virginia, which features
several nice restaurants for Friday evening.
Won't you join us for a cozy event in the tradition of VSCCA events of the past?
